AnsonAdams uploaded his latest short movie a couple of days ago. It's not only an entertaining video, but also a good example of Blender being used in VFX.
When asked what he had used Blender for in this video, he said :
In my short film I used Blender 2.58a for the pin and 3D animation, utilizing the raytracing function to provide realistic reflections. I also created simple meshes to provide accurate shadows which are often called "shadow catchers". Furthermore this project roughly took 20 hours from start to finish and used programs such as Final Cut, After Effects, Mocha, and Syntheyes. Syntheyes was essential and provided 3D tracking information to import to Blender.

LOL! So funny! nice job. I thought I saw a couple Action Essentials 2 elements from our friends over at video copilot ;)
Oh and *First*!
Yes- great! Lets make the 2nd video (angry birds) :D
The thing I find highly unrealistic in this video is that this kid has an iPhone (ok, maybe I'm too old, but in my days, kids did not have smartphones with unlimited data... but I am an oldtimer...)
Funny! )) Good script, indeed! :)
lol, "what's the point of this game"
Angry Birds = Already been done. Check it out at

Very nicely done. I'm looking forwad to angry birds!
Awesome Video.......I see a full feature film to be made. Well....Indeed the guy/boy in the video does own an iPhone with essentially unlimited data capability....texting that is...but the data restrictions are 2GB/month. LOL
Don't want to be all negativ on this, but he used Blender only for the pin?! So...a sphere on a tube basically...
The reflection isn't bad, but not that good either. It's not a real reflection of course, it doesn't move, doesn't show the actual environment, etc. The animation comes from Blender, too? Wouldn't it be easier to just use mocha? It's in there anyway.
So what exactly are the requirements to get featured on the official blender front page?
But all in all it's a good clip. Nice idea and good realization.
PS: Is there a specific reason to use syntheyes over mocha to export to Blender? (not sure if mocha can export to blender). Because I would have used mocha for everything then.
nice video
about angribirds it reminds me an T-mobile advertisement well but not much blender/3D related ...
