My name is Oliver Jelko and I study media art at the Karlsruhe university of art and design. Lumpie was originally modelled with Maya back in winter 2008/2009, but then left behind, because I didn't really manage to weight paint it after like 10 tries. In may 2010 I have started using Blender, where I refined the model and almost effortlessly rigged it.
From there it took me about 4 weeks to produce the film. There was a tight deadline for the project, because it was part of my prediploma on july the 1st. After slightly precomposing it in Blender, I used after effects for the compositing. I was strictly using Blender 2.5 alpha builds on linux and windows machines, except for a rapid prototype stl export, 2.49 came to play.

The digital soundfx are sooo awsome!
Very well done!
I love this one!
genius!
I like it! just dont understand why he is throwing them in the trash! THIS IS A DOG, MAN, THE BEST FRIEND OF THE HUMANS! DOGS DESERVE ONLY LOVE, DONT THREAT THEM BAD! throw the cat if u want - she wont do anything to save your life even if she can! But the DOG will sacrifice his life for u! so show more respect to these brave animals!
Technically, 3D is not the best part, but the rest is well done (like the camera angles) and the idea is great :D
Well done!
The animation could have done with some more arcs, but apart from that, it was a well made film!!
Love the retro sound effects!!
Ah! Ah! Excellent! :)
Stop smoking man!
;-) Nice movie.
Carsten
That's neat!
@ Peter: "throw the cat if u want" - wait, wait, what do you have against cats? A cat will hardly bite you to death like dogs occasionally do. Even their owners. I haven't met a rabid cat either.
Love it! :)
Lustige Idee, vor allem wenn die Kamera in den PC springt, interessante neue Perspektive!
Leider etwas kurz, den "Konflikt" hätte man sicher mit mehr Zeit noch mehr eskalieren lassen können.

the idea that the characters made in 3D actually have their own live! nicely done
no dogs were harmed during the production of lumpie v.98.
forgot to put that into the titles...
Cool concept!
Really funny idea! Nice blend with realworld. Now I realise we really miss such a convincing trashcan in Blender.
Great, but poor dog :P...
Poor dog. But kinda bad dog too. He want to have revenge first but it backfires... so poor dog.
hahaha, what a great short film, Love it!
Haha! Great one!
I love that part when camera is "inside" the screen. lol. Draggin' poor puppy around the screen and then into trash can. :D
