Blending Life 2: Starting 25 January 2010

10

Blending Life 1 showed us that Blender is on a solid path and competing very well with the broader CG world when it comes to creating realistic looking 3d human models.  This time we’re going to up the stakes a notch and prove our worth even more.  Our community has the talent, and we have the tool.  Are you ready for Blending Life 2?

A special thanks to our sponsors 3d.sk and CG Cookie!

YOU GUYS ROCK!

  1. Ooooh! I want in, but time is stretched and I'm working on Blender stuff full time anyway. :)

    Placeholder for Blending Life 3...

  2. Yay! No denial of a potential Blending Life 3... :P

Would be awesome to make this an annual event so long as it is sustainable for the sponsors and organiser(s).

Thanks again Len for spearheading this all up, much appreciated.

  3. Really looking forward to start working on my entry :) The image I submitted last year looks rubbish when I look at it now, yet I was so proud of it and learned a lot. I hope this years blending life will be as fun as last year. And thank you len, and thank you sponsors for making this happening again :D

  4. I'm confused by the banner for the contest. is the goal to make a realistic looking head and the banner ad examples are what not to do ? or is it supposed to be a contest to make CG looking heads? Those head are far from looking realistic so just wondering. maybe call the contest Game model heads. or how ugly can you make Rhianna . I'm sure you can make some photo real heads in blender I've yet to see it though would be sweet if someone could pull it off. good luck with this!

  5. @Month3d: Pleasure, hey. Same thing happens with me when looking at older work, but that's how one improves :)

@bigpimpin: Don't be confused. Those are some of last years entries, and even though they may not be super realistic yet they are on a solid path to reaching that goal, especially when looking at the full rez versions of the same.

  6. Oh c’mon since when has a couple of rules intimidated the brave.

It might look scary and limiting but it’s not. They’re very basic points that would need to be followed anyway to be even remotely successful. And second nature to those who has done this before.
