Things are gearing up for the 2010 Blender Game competition. We saw similar contests organized by Erwin in 2006, 2007 and more recently the one organized by malcando earlier in 2009.
Similar to the game contest in 2009 there will be 3 main categories:
1) Gameplay/physics
2) Graphics
3) Logic bricks only
Check out Erwin's announcement thread here while Mokazon's discussion thread for the competition is here.
*Update* Online submission form is now up, you can find it here (requires forum login to prevent spam)

I would like to invite you for the Blender Game Contest 2010!
The deadline is February 2010, and the winners will be shown at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in March 2010.
Does any of you remember the 2006 Blender gameplay physics contest?
Or the 2007 Rube Goldberg Physics Contest with a PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii as prize? This time the prizes include at least $500 dollar in cash (Updated)

i'm from malaysia, too far from US and i'm in southeast asia!!
how can i enter the competition and how can i trust this!!
i'm scared if i should pay something!!
Hey Saigo
Its not a problem where you are in the world, anyone can enter. Submission details will probubly be made public **sometime** (we will probubly do another article to let people know how to submit) but I can tell you that entries will be submitted over the net. So as long as you have internet you will be able to enter.
Also there is no entry fee, it is completely free to enter, and I can tell you that Erwin is very trustworthy with these contests! He is after all one of the main guys behind the creation of the Blender Game Engine in the first place and hes the one who implemented and constantly updates the bullet physics.
This contest is 100% legitimate.
Hope that answered ur questions :)
Awesome! Was counting on this, guess I'll have to work harder and harder to have an outstanding contest entry in time.
Who wants to join in for the glory and fame as part of http://www.FreezingMoon.org feel free to email me, [email protected] - small talented team, constant progress and great projects to work on!
Cheers!
Hi Alex,
You said "Submission details will probably be made public in a few months".
I hope it will be made public in a few days/weeks instead : the deadline is February 2010 :)
Yeh you have a point Cray, I take back my comment as I dont actually know exactly when those details will be made public, I guessed that it would be in a month or two, but it will probubly/hopefully be much sooner.
You could always email Erwin or ask in the BA thread (or he'll see this article and fill us in)
Ok, the submission form is online NOW

My advice (keep in mind i got 2nd place in 2006): To win, to even place in one of these contests, don't waste any time asking questions. The rules are set. GOOOOO!
