ALF is a grass roots conference covering Linux and the open source world. Roger Wickes, aka PapaSmurf a certified Blender trainer will be giving a presentation at ALF. Using Reference Video for Game Animation in Blender
Presenter:Â Roger Wickes
Blender provides an integrated real-time, modeling, animation, compositing, non-linear video editing, and scripting platform for complete game asset creation. Using tools and techniques described in his book and video series, Roger will develop a cyclic walk cycle for use in a game. He will first import and use some reference footage of a girl walking, and use the VSE to analyze the footage. He will then discern key frames, extract and use those frames as reference in posing his character using strict game engine limitations. He will review the essentials of armatures and posing, IK/FK posing, pole targets, and he will also demonstrate one of Blender's newest features, the grease pencil, to markup and annotate video and animation
More information and registration (FREE) for the conference can be found at the ALF site
Registration is free, however you may chose to purchase lunch for $10. Registration is required in order to gain access to the wireless network at the event.

Interesting, will have to see if I can make it. Regardless, perhaps one of their BoF sessions could be used to get some Atlanta area Blenderheads together...
Sweet!
"...you may CHOOSE..."
