  1. Those jokes where terrible! C'mon people the king has no clothes! Just because is Lasseter we don't have to laugh at everything he does/says.

  2. Personally I never enjoyed any storyline/pacing from a movie directed by him, but he seems to have an ability to find talented people that push animation forward. I hope he stays on the sidelines for more movies, like George Lucas or Frank Miller he should be kept away from directing the actual movie, but allowed to be involved in the process...

    Oh, and the reason I really wanted to comment was to say,
    @Shiretoko: This is a blog, you choose what you want to read, there is no gun to your head forcing you to read every post, grow up!

    I enjoy news not directly related to Blender but related to CG/Animation, Keep it up!

  3. I don't care about John Lassiter or Pixar anymore. Nothing they bring is groundbreaking anymore IMO, storywise or technology wise. The last good movie was The Incredibles. From there on it was downhill. I went to Up (just for my kid) and boy, it dwarfs near Ice Age 3. The whole appeal of CG animation is dwindling. The Shrek and Pixar saga are just capitalizing on name recognition.

    A few highlights in this is Kung Fu Panda, Ice Age (1,2,3) and at a distant Alien vs Monsters.

    Jeezz, what a boring hour and a half it was watching an old guy chasing at a floating house and a chubby guy chasing a weird bird and they were caught up in an air to air combat with talking dogs as pilots????? Pixar really really really lost it.

  4. @toontje:
    Ice Age 2 wasn't as good as the first one, I've no desire to see the third, and Up was probably my favorite movie this year... either that or Terminator Salvation.

    Or...
    @toontje:
    I don't know, I wasn't really impressed with the second Ice Age. Is the third better? Maybe I'll see it. I personally liked Up a lot, but hey... to each his own.

    Moving on...

    @JoOngle:
    I think I understand where Shiretoko is coming from, but I don't understand your comment. The Blender community is not a cult... we don't shut ourselves in and ignore the rest of the 3D graphics world. We embrace it, and make it better with Blender! BlenderNation is my homepage because it's my portal to the community and the industry. Not because Bart's trying to make us Blender zombies. At least... I don't think he is...?

  5. You don't get it Gryphon, maybe thats my bad - let me explain:

    If Blender nation becomes a multi-portal for every graphics related news around, then
    why choose BlenderNation and not Cgtalk? Cgtalk is a portal that covers everything, BlenderNation
    where created to cover BLENDER NEWS.

  6. Checking blender nation is something I do everyday, it's probably the first and last website of the day for me. Sometimes just like in the regular news, not much is happening, I think newscasters call this the silly season (well here in the uk anyway) I'm grateful that the homepage doesn't remain static even if I'd prefer a hot video tutorial on a new feature or some such. My day has never been spoilt by a headline I wasn't particulary interested in. So thanks guys for everything you post.

  7. Although I like all kinds of CGI stuff I also hope BlenderNation sticks to Blender news. Lately it seems like non-blender news is creeping in BlenderNation that isn't even indirectly connected to Blender. I hope BlenderNation keeps focused on Blender related stuff as maybe now some interesting yet smaller Blender related things get ignored in favor of 'big' name news.

  8. some of these comments make me sad... I believe blendernation is always posting fantastic and relevant news. Though it's always good to talk about it, let's just not get too evangelical on how they should run the site =)

    I'm at work right now so cant view the vids, looks like one to check out when i'm home!

    Cheers,
    Lee

  9. well thats just how I feel. If nobody would say something about it, BlenderNation could assume everybody likes the non-blender related content. (Heh, the guy in the vids didn't look to happy either) Maybe its time for CGINation as a sister site :)

    And I'm also a bit stupid as I could not figure out what movie the guy in the first vid was babbling about. lol.

  10. ohr please stop whining about stuff not being blender-related! Its interresting CG-news! - It doesent really matter if a post now and then is not blender-related, as long as all blender-related news still comes first.

    Joongle@ have you seen the same post at cgsociety? No, then be happy it is posted here, cause i rather be checking headlines at blendernation than searching for interresting post at cgtalk.
