Kleber Paiva and Paulo Fernandes wrote to us about the use of Blender at the Colégio Imperatriz Leopoldina in São Paulo, Brazil. Their story includes a showcase of their pupils' work.
Kleber and Paulo write:
Colégio Imperatriz Leopoldina (CIL) – located in São Paulo, Brazil – is an educational institution which focuses its service on children and teenagers from 4 to 17 years old.
Kleber Paiva and Paulo Fernandes (teachers responsible for the Information Technology Department) came to know about the software Blender 3D approximately three years ago.
Searching for more information about this area in courses and on the communities present on the Internet, they started making use of its resources to complement, improve and illustrate interdisciplinary studies developed at the school.
Blender has also been used for simple animations, posted on the institution's website, inviting visitors to events and special celebrations.
By using this software, the school mascot, called “Cilzinhoâ€, has been given a 3D version, and this led to the creation of “A Turma do Cilzinho†(Cilzinho's Gang), occasionally included in such animations.
We would really like to thank all the communities and forums which shared experiences on Blender.
For those interested in checking some animations created, please visit www.colegioimperatriz.com.br, click on “Institucionalâ€, “Animaçõesâ€.

Desjo tudo de bom para voces.
I dont see the link, where is it ? left, top, right ???
These are great, good work kids (and teachers!) Wish I'd had Blender back when I was the same age...
Good work , pff i regret so much that i have not started graphics at their age.
@jorge - it's in the menu on the left. You have to turn JavaScript on though.
jorge, in the left menu choose Institucional>Animações.
Bom trabalho, parabéns!
Neat to see children starting out learning it... I just hope they don't let it take over their life (Blender can be very captivating...addicting.) And that these children will find their path... the Path, to God...

I really, REALLY hope they don't put children that young behind a computer, no matter what program they are learning. 4 years old. holy shit! they shouldn't even be near things like computers and tv's. Let them have a little bit of oldfashioned life and playtime before they get sucked into this modern mayhem of a world we live in.
@Freakydude : I think it's the institution that houses pupils from 4 to 17 years old.
4 years old aren't old enough to understand how Blender works.
And if they do, then congratulation to Brazilian kids for being so intelligent. Much more intelligent than professionals who are still ranting about how Blender is hard to use (see? 4 year olds manage to use it... HA!)
I think Blender will be used more and more in classrooms because it's free and powerful.
And because it's free, they can even bring Blender back home if they like it :)
i'm very proud of both of you....
Vocês são demais......
Congratulations!!!

We thank the participation about this theme.
We clarify that we work on a teaching institution for children and young people from 4 to 17 years old.
The animations and jobs posted in the related site, they were created by us with the events divulging purpose and students' jobs.
Nowadays we are applying Blender as one more teaching tool for students from 7 to 10 years old, where the goal is not to teach Blender, but as part of activities cross-discipline, always protecting the of age band.
