The Melbourne Blender Society will meet for the first time on the Tuesday the 14th of October. We'll be meeting at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, starting at 6pm. Speakers will include ideasman42 and Alex Fraser, while a few members of Sydney's ProMotion have been in contact to indicate that they'll be travelling down from Sydney to entertain us. Additional speakers will be revealed on the night.
The evening will be recorded and videos of all presentations circulated via melbournebs.com. Further information can also be found on this site.
The thread documenting the development of this initiative can be found at BlenderArtists.org.

Yep, sounds like it might be a fun night. As mentioned, a few of us from promotion are taking a trip down from Sydney for the night, so we look forward to seeing the rest of you there!
Sounds like a good idea. I'd love to come but I'm performing that night (Dizzy's Jazz Club in Richmond, we'll be there till 10, feel free to drop by afterwards).
I'll try to come to any subsequent meetings.
This is so nice ...
I'm kind of jealous :p
I wish to organize something similar in my city next year.
Wish we had something like this in Brisbane...anyone??
This sounds like a great amount of fun! Too far for me though. Please write a report to let us all know how it goes, with pictures too please.
I'm in Brisbane, Dingo_aus, but I've havn't used blender in ages since starting my design degree. But if somebody organised a Brisbane meetup, It'd be great.
This is great! I will be there. Looking forward to it.
Greenlig
Dingo_aus, bjzaba, and other blender users in Brisbane,
I can work out the logistics and find out what will be required to book a tutorial_room/lecture_hall at UQ(St lucia) if you guys want to meet up and do *something* related to blender :)
Just reply on this thread or *nickname* .at. yahoo.com and we'll see where this goes.
To the other readers: please spare me the grilling for using the comments section to try to get organised.
