2D cutout image import

13

If you want to use Blender to create 2D cutout animations (see this thread on BA to get an idea of what I'm talking about) then forTe's new cutout import image script will save you a lot of time!

forTe has released a 2D cutout import image script in blenderartists, the script is really usefull to create 2D compositing and 2D animations, it can add an image, use the alpha channel, make it shadeless, put it in a plane witht the same height and width as the image and more !

This is gong to be a huge time saver for this kind of projects.

Check out the thread at blenderartists.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

Thanks for publishing, Bart, and thanks forTe for this intelligent script. I might as well forget I ever used Flash. Haha! ^_^

This is just on the right timing, since I'm currently creating a gift project for my girlfriend right now (who, I'm 90% sure wouldn't read this post, so I'm safe the surprise wouldn't get spoiled). Wishing you luck on your success on more upgrades on this script and wish me luck on my surprise, too. ^_^

    Thanks so much.

  2. Some time ago there was a similar script that imported a multi-layer XCF file using xcftools. Does this script have the same ability? If not, it would be great to integrate both scripts in one.

  3. let me say this: that is a very helpful script! hope to use Blender and make a cutout animation some time in the future as needed (or feel like it.) :D God bless, -b

P.S. Check out the new movie "Fireproof" - it doesn't have anything to do with Blender or FOSS, but it is a very good movie! The visuals aren't spectacular, but the story and message is excellent!
