The Suzanne Awards team is working on a series of short videos that will announce the video clips and they need your help. Download the rigged robot character and submit your animation before Monday, October 1st.
From the announcement on BlenderArtists.org:
The idea is to animate a supplied robot character and rig and send the animation back to be integrated into a final match moved composite.
At the conference every year we have the Suzanne Awards and Animation Festival. Right now we (a bunch of helpful blenderheads and me) are working on making the announcements of the nominated works for the awards show.
The conference is the October 12th, so there isn't a huge amount of time... try to get me your stuff before the 1st... that way there's still some time to render!
- What we will end up with is 15 short video clips to announce everyone.
- Last year we used still photographs to composite some characters onto.
- This year ccherret has recorded high definition video!
- The video motion (a camera moving down a path in the woods) is being tracked by ccherret and kngcalvin.
Now the idea is to have lots and LOTS of little robots doing "stuff" on this path. So we need lots of animations! Read more and download the robot model on BlenderArtists.org.
DEADLINE: October 1st.

That little Robot is pretty swell. I don't think my animation level is up to par for an entry though.
LoMac,
Great time to get some experience :)
sweet! I'd love to animate that little guy, even if I don't get picked!
Same as you, LoMac ;)
Good opportunity to practice for me! (even though I probably won't submit)
Guys to be clear... It's not only something experienced blender users can join in on. It's for everyone!
It's not competitive either. So people don't get "picked" based on how good something looks. Unless you make something "offensive", you can be pretty sure I'll try and put your animation in.
I'll try to make something... =)
This is a nice rig, though it's sad that it doesn't work with 2.45 even though it JUST CAME OUT! It doesn't look like it's doing anything extra special, but maybe it is...?
This is very funny rig, thanks for sharing it!
here is my attempt of using it --- http://www.renderplace.com/robot.mov

Here is unofficial stream recording taken directly from the conference one hour ago, for those who are not there and want to see how all animations turned out. It's great! Congratulation to macouno!
NOTE: quality of the recording is not perfect, but for this moment - perfect!
Here is the link ( 43MB) --> http://www.renderplace.com/blenderfi...ive_stream.mov
Hope we get official full quality version online soon...
And thanks to Goofster for providing conference stream rtsp://streamer.neoarena.fi/blender/conference.sdp ( check http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=107324 )
