Call for Papers: Free Software Magazine

3

Free Software MagazineTony Mobily, the Editor In Chief of Free Software Magazine is looking for Blender content for his magazine.

He writes:

At the moment, I am trying to publish more "user-oriented" articles in FSM, and I'd love to talk about Blender.

I was wondering if you'd like to write an article about Blender for Free Software Magazine. You could draw a lot from what you've already written - no worries there!

A typical structure of such an article should be:

  • Introduction to the program: what it does, who it's for
  • Goal of this tutorial
  • How to do it, step by step
  • More advanced tricks
  • (IF NECESSARY) Behind the scenes: what happens when you carry out the described actions
  • Conclusion

It's important that the "graphical" side of things is shown first, and that the reader is able to gain from this article even if s/he skips the "behind the scenes" section (which should be at the end of the article).

Every article published in Free Software Magazine is released under a free license. We pay for articles with books - please read http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/write_for_us for the details!

I think that this is a great way to create more publicity for Blender AND to earn something at the same time aswell.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Hey You BlenderHeads! Go and write! Let's make FSF readers see what's a real 3D suite (and a real community of course).

I was just assigned the task to write an article on Blender by Tony and already working on it :-D

  2. I have an Idea: why don't we plan TOGETHER different articles on different aspects of Blender so we can offer a complete and detailed overview? Please Anyone interested in this leave a comment here, maybe I will open a post on Elysiun later ;-)
