Mitsuma has created a monster fluid simulation with 12 million particles!
[It] Took me some time but it is finally done. I present you my biggest simulation to date.
Watch it in 4K60fps if possible, even on a 1080p screen in fullscreen it looks a lot better!

Now if that was optimized with some particle surfacing there would be almost no need to switch to other 3D packages for most fluid sims (Realflow, Houdini - is actually pretty damn procedural so can't live without right now, nParicles, etc)
I am not a huge sim guy, and I haven't much experience with particle meshing, but my understanding is that Cube Surfer is pretty efficient at meshing particle sims.
