Ian Hubert just posted the fifth episode of his space opera Dynamo. Grab a drink and popcorn and enjoy!
After over a year's worth of work, I'm super pleased to be able to release episode 5 of Dynamo. We started filming bits of this way back in 2012, and we've been working steadily on it ever since. Feels so good to get it out there! It starts with a weird space opera thing- cause why not*.
I'm hoping to go through and make a few tutorials, so if you have anything you're curious about, let us know (although I'm the first to say nothing we're doing is all that complex). All rendered blender internal, although if I were starting over again, I'd probably try it with Cycles.
A bunch of great work from Blendswap in there, along with cg work by Nathan Taylor, Gert de Roost (particularly his time-offset script!), and Nathan Vegdahl.
If you haven't seen the other episodes, you can check em out at Karmapirates.com- and for those who care, episode 6 is already pretty far along, and shouldn't take nearly as long.
But yes!!! I hope you enjoy it! And if you can, watch it in a place with decent sound; the sound team (Impossible Acoustic) went super above and beyond.
*because of releasing it in under a year, I think that's why not.

I encourage everyone to take a look, it's awesome! Really top quality work!
Awesome, jaw dropping sci-fi look ! Great work.
I'm becoming more and more concerned that I'm mildly dyslexic. I read the title as "Dynotopo Episode 5".
Anyways, well done on this project. It's most impressive.
Great work! Was this edited in Blender as well? How did you do the lens flares? Congrats! :)
00:44 - the reflections in the glass show shoulders and not faces of the two people :-)
Greeeeeeeeeeeeeat!!
In Germany the video is not available because of some music copyright problems ...
really amazing !!!
Too bad, can't watch it in Germany :(
Same with me here... The content is blocked because it "might" contain music from SME.
Sony again? Why am I not surprised.
Yep, didn't surprise me at all... I would really love to see the video, I wish there was another link to get it.
Someone should nab the video and reupload it to Vimeo.
Do it. I can confirm we have rights for all the music we used, so yeah. Do your thing. And then share it with everyone from Germany please. *high five*

I'd give a high five, too. All the other episodes are free to watch, but not the last one... can't understand why. Nate, maybe someone should tell Youtube that you have all the rights for the music. Or someone should tell Sony not to put their hands on everything no matter if they have the rights to or not...
Gotta level with you, I have no idea how to overcome their weird "potential music piracy" sensors. Presumably, if the music is original by members of our team, it wouldn't even get flagged. We live in an age where everyone is so afraid of lawsuits that even independent artists are somehow getting messed with. Hahah
I've taken the liberty of uploading this episode to Vimeo. Here's the link - http://vimeo.com/99295055
oh nice work. congratz... this all done in blender ??
Damn.
I really enjoyed some of the shots in this film. Particularly early on they were very well composed.
Will there be a dialogue script? There were a few expressions I couldn't quite hear.
Blender made? Really?
Blender and After Effects!
Wow, I thought it was done in Houdini.
At the beginning, guy with long hair disappearing. Which was that -- a death-ray zapping, a transport or a supernatural teleport?
Hint: check out what Axle does when he's in Chronohenge. Same thing.
