Video Tutorial: Fake Caustics in Cycles

5

Learn how to achieve a caustics effect using a node shader.

Matthew Heimlich writes:

Just completed a video description of a material that will allow fast fake caustics in Cycles. It's especially useful for those interested in having a caustic effect that looks visually pleasing but aren't so interested in the super long render times required for true caustics in a path tracer. Anyway, hopefully it can be of some use to someone out there. Hope you all enjoy!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
