Modeling the Female Body DVD available for preorder

27

dvd-case-cover-big-2.jpgI can tell you this is an excellent DVD. I have seen much of it already and it goes into great detail. Jonathan does a good job of going through the process and giving plenty of step by step info on his workflow so you can easily follow along.

I won't get into to much detail reviewing the DVD yet as I want to do a full review on it later here. (soon.) I'm finishing up viewing the last of the videos now. If you are curious on the quality of the videos check out the previous review we did on his Head Modeling DVD here.

In addition, make sure to check out his blog for further up to the minute announcements and random things Jonathan posts. Some great models are there in his gallery. His most recent blog post has an embedded youtube preview of the Body DVD.

Details on pricing, preordering info and screenshots can be found here. And of course participate in the discussion at Blenderartists.org.

I think it's bad, that everybody expecting everything for free...yeah, free things are sweet, but mostly they are not a such good quality like these for money, cause money is the engine that keeps the creator of learning material to do everything at highest level of quality, cause quality takes time:)..(that's why and peach team is recruited not for free:))..and don't forget that amount of DVD training videos is counted as huge advantage then every 3d app is compared...

Some people think that because the open source comunity has free software, that everything around that software must be free.

Open source software is just about the oposite, making software freely available so you can focus on providing quality services, like training programs, courses, etc.

I like free software, but free knowledge of good quality is VERY hard to find, and it must be that way, otherwise people will be less willing to give their time to open source software.

Aleksander: I don't think the goal of the dvd is to reproduce Anetta Keys. The goal of the dvd is to show the general topology and modelling technic behind making a Female Body. The reference image is just for general shape and proportion. After watching the dvd, you'll probably be able to apply the methods you learn to remake your favorite girl :P

  5. +1 for AniCator!!!

All those DVD's are sooo bloody expensive!!!

Helloooo, Blender is a FREE program, so AT LEAST have the decency to ask a REASONABLE price for what you selling!!!

Otherwise go for the big bucks in the Maya, 3DS etc. communities, but don't try to make your fortunes at cost of 'poor' Blenderheads!

  6. Lots of free resources are available. Keep in mind that Jonathan's website has pretty detailed free video tutorials at his website. http://www.montagestudio.org/tut/

This is professional training. It isn't free. I think these are quite reasonable for what you get. Lets not discourage people creating and selling training for Blender, the more resources available the better. Everyone always states Blender is on par or even better than Maya, Max, XSI, etc. its funny you are suggesting someone with obvious talent should stop using Blender, providing training, and sell elsewhere for another software package.

  7. Thanks for all the response everyone. I know that a few of you (or maybe a more than a few) are disappointed with the price tag, but I've done my best to put a fair price on them. Taking into consideration the time I put in, the value of it, and the prices of similar dvds. I think if you look at a lot of the training dvds out there you'll actually find them to be a good bit more expensive than what I've offered.

I really look forward to hearing what those of you who purchase this dvd have to say about it so that I can put all of your comments and suggestions towards my next dvd(s) : )

  8. Jonathan (aka Mr_Bomb), great to see yet another awesome training DVD for Blender. $30 is a perfect price for the DVD, and is in the same ballpark of other DVD's of its kind. For those that have never had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan in person, I'd like to assure you that his knowledge in modeling in Blender is superb. I've met him at the Montreal conferences and he really knows his business in modeling. It's always good to see talented artists adding to the great resources for Blender, especially with all the new DVD's being produced by the Blender Foundation. Looking forward to the DVD, and I hope to see more. :)

    Best Regards,

    Brian C. Hynds

  9. @KritikAll: Dude it's not that expensive and it's good quality, I have Jonathan's first dvd and it was worth every penny. Not all Blenderheads are poor, personally I'd rather save up and pay for something worthwhile than waste bandwidth on downloading cheap and crappy next-to-useless free tutorials.

  10. This comment board is getting crazy. Now we have manual plus 1's too? it's ol'school dig. I think I'll have to buy his DVD so that i can learn from a master and transform what I find out into my own personal blend of blend-o-tainment.

  11. It is really amazing to see there is a lot of bullcrap commenting going on on the web these days. You have to ask yourself what really is the goal of thse robots who are doing this. It can be quite a mystery.
