Project Gold Will Not Move Forward with Production

7

This is sadly not the news I was expecting to report on today with the release of Project gold's third production log, but Blender Studio's Executive producer Francesco Siddi confirmed it in a post on the Blender Studio blog: Project Gold will not be moving forward beyond the preproduction phase.

In the blog post, Siddi states that the latest Blender Open Movie seems to have lost some of the creative momentum needed to accomplish the very ambitious project, which will now see life in "showcase" form, finishing some of the key elements that were already started and sharing them on the Blender Studio website. Check out the blog post on the link below for more details:

  1. If this is/was going to be yet another fantasy cartoon/animation, it is a shame that people spent their time and effort on it, but the next Blender movie project needs to be something different. A bit more realism and less Grease Pencil!

  2. That's sad! Seemed a movie I would enjoy.
However, it's a reality that some projects inevitably come to a halt for various reasons; not all of them succeed.
We had a Cat Woman movie canceled after being complete; also happens with games.
Furthermore, succumbing to the "sunk cost" fallacy isn't beneficial either.
Can't wait to see what comes next :)

  3. I agree with Reaction point above, they need to vary the aesthetics.
They also need to bring a couple people that don't know Blender for this projects because the UI still seriously lack intuitive learning.

  4. This one is the project that I most liked so far, the most compelling and visually innovative. The unfinished pieces will be a proof of potency from the Blender crew in the future, because it will let the observers fill the gaps with their own imagination and freedom.

Long live to the Non Finito! Non Finito all the way!
