VFX Breakdown AR Trailer

Julian Poessnicker writes:

Here is our VFX and CGI breakdown of our last AR experience showcase trailer project:

We wanted to create a readable but authentic visual depiction of our AR experience. For visual eye candy, we emphasized the macro detail of the elements such as irregular floor tiles, irregular shading in the materials, complex structure at the top of the picture, volumetric lighting, and we created high contrast lighting to make the scene more photorealistic.

We used authentic out-of-focus (bokeh) effects of retro lenses we had, to recreate the look of film cameras. We digitally photographed small light sources that were out of focus with these vintage lenses to get the lens iris kernels.

In the end, we added additional effects such as motion blur, chromatic aberration, film halation, film grain, and a soft highlight roll-off to get an authentic feeling image.
