I love Blender...

And one of the first things I remember being really stoked about with Blender where all the hidden addons.

Yes, kept quiet, and sleeping in the preferences panel was this incredible plethora of stuff. New primitives? Oh yes. Special curve shapes? Indeedy dido. How about some lovely tools for making better meshes? Such as..?

And this is where I found, hidden between the arch-mesh and the bolt factory a little thing called the Discombobulator.

This should have been renamed the sci-fi panel tool, it makes inverted and extruded panels of your mesh and then adds collected objects to be added as greebles to the surface.

It's brilliant and easy to use.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to use it. Plus, if you love my dog, Ginny makes a guest appearance near the front.

Take care and see you soon.

I am a Senior Creative over at Space Digital in the North West of England. I've been creating CG stuff for the TV and Corporate World for (mumble-mumble) years now and have been lucky to work on some amazing projects. I discovered Blender about 9 years ago, opened it and, like so many other, immediately shut it down, but several years ago I needed to so something simple and cost effective (ie. free) and Blender was the only way. I have never looked back and use it now all the time alongside Maya every working day. I also have a YouTube channel called GENVFX where I teach people how to use every modifier one by one and as deeply as I can as well as the occasional tutorial.
