How to make an LED screen in Blender

0

Blender Guru just dropped a new tutorial! He uses geometry nodes to instance the LED screen lights, and then a raycast node to detect where a text object intersects the LEDs. Where an intersection occurs, the node switched the LED model to one with a bright texture. it sounds simple, but there are a few pitfalls to avoid, which will be pointed out.

Download links for fonts, textures etc are available in the video description.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
