Creating the Millennium Falcon in Blender and Photoshop

Today we’re going to a time long ago in a galaxy, you know the rest. I’m making the millennium falcon. This was a project I gave myself in order to learn better modeling techniques. Sometimes I get so caught up in the idea for an image that I rush through the modeling stage and don’t spend enough time there. As a result, I’ve ended up with a very surface level understanding of some of the tools I have. I wanted a reason to spend more time creating something detailed and a great way to do that is by modeling something that already exists. By removing the need to design the whole thing myself I was able to focus on just getting the details right and learning how to model shapes I would probably just skip designing if it were my own work. It was a super fun exercise and although it’s not a screen accurate model, I achieved my goal and learned a lot about the tools I’m using in this video.
