I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Community Lead at n8n.
Hi,
I agree, there’s some nice stuff here (thumbup).
Still, to create reel that’s a balanced in it’s quality, I’d start the reel at 1:07. Why? After this, the material is much more polished. I’d also use faster cuts, some of the clips are quite long (shots). The physics stuff in the beginning is cool, but it’s not as polished on the rendering side. And though the angels vs soldier guy is interesting, I think it’s a bit static, comparing to the rest of the shots after 1:07. That’s my opinion.
It might be that it’s like a progress of how your skills have developed, but I still think you should only show the most polished stuff, which is in the second half.
In conclusion, I’d concentrate on the second half. Keep up the good work!
