Crowdrender now Supports Blender 3.0, 3.1 & Cycles X

We've been working to make our distributed rendering addon for Blender compatible with Cycles X since its debut in the Blender 3.0 beta build in September this year.

We've now been able to release a new update to our addon that works with the latest builds from blender.org. This involved, amongst other things, patching Blender, so if you want to try it out, you'll need to re-download and install Blender 3.0 beta or 3.1 alpha (yes it works with both!) if your copy is older than the 11th of November 2021 (which is when our patch was officially merged into Blender's master).

You'll also need a subscription to our dev fund as V0.4.2 is currently only available for people supporting our project :)

You can view our downloads page here (to be able to download, you will need to create and verify an account on our website)

Wishing you all the best and happy holidays :)

I'm a software engineer, I've worked on numerous technologies over the past 10 years. I started out working on full motion flight simulators and then worked with embedded systems. I now work on building an add-on to support rendering using multiple computers over internet/local networks. I started using blender in 2009 and have done small projects with it since then, however, crowd render, our network rendering add-on is by far the biggest adventure with Blender to date.

  1. Hi James,
it was nice watching your video because i gave hope that i don't have to spend thousands of euros in hardware ..that i don't have ;)
In the moment i have 3 old laptops !
Could i use Raspberrypi's to make a rendering -cluster or -farm for Blender.
How much money i have to pay for your software and do you have some tutorials how set it up.

    Thanks in advance René

    • Hi René :)

You can use Raspberry Pi's, others have done that, here's an article written by Carl Cox who is a support of our project. He managed to get a few Pi's to render in a home made render farm - https://www.crowd-render.com/single-post/pi-farm-on-arm

Our software has a free version that works with Blender 2.83 and 2.93 LTS versions. If you want to use Pi's then this is probably ok since I believe the max version you can get for Blender these days is 2.93. I may be out of touch though since I have not kept pace with development for the Pi.

You can checkout our downloads section here to learn more, sign up and subscribe if you would like to support our project. Our lowest tier is $4 a month, and you can cancel whenever you like.
