Today Adobe announced that they will join the Blender Foundation’s Development Fund as a corporate Gold member. Contributions from corporate members directly support core Blender development, for generally approved projects on blender.org.
Ton comments on Twitter:
This is just more recognition for everyone's work on Blender! Thanks for supporting Blender core development projects.
I'd like to point out here that becoming a sponsor of the Blender Development Fund does NOT give a company any influence or control over Blender development. They will get "personal attention from the Blender team for strategic discussions and feedback on the roadmap" (see the Development Fund page).
Substance 3D add-on for Blender
In addition, Adobe also announced their Substance for Blender add-on, which allows you to load Substance .sbsar files into your Blender scenes, and tweak all relevant material parameters.
Finally, it’s here: the famed Blender plugin! Starting today, you can access your Substance materials directly inside Blender.
Install the new Substance 3D add-on for Blender just like you would install any other plugin! Once that is done, you’ll be able to see a new Substance 3D tab in Shader editor and the 3D view.
When you load an SBSAR file, that tab will show your material and let you change the parameters and presets.
