Add-on: Integrated Audacity sound recording, editing and playback from the Video Sequence Editor

How to do proper sound design in the Video Sequence Editor? As it is, you can’t. It’s way too limited in functionality. However, with this add-on, Audacity can be integrated in Blender, so you can control Audacity from Blender and pipe the edited audio data back and forth between the two softwares.

Features:

  • Start/stop recording from Blender, do the audio editing in Audacity and receive the edited recording in Blender.
  • Send the full sequence, the selected strips or single strip to Audacity.
  • Receive the edited full sequence(mixdown), the selected strips(mixdown) or single strip in Blender from Audacity.
  • Play Audacity in sync with Blender, so you can use Blender as a video preview while doing the sound design in Audacity. While playing in sync, the audio in Blender will be muted, so the Audio from Audacity can be heard solo(but not in single strip mode).
