Open VDB in Blender is the gift that keeps on giving, especially with the new volume object that allows for the import of OpenVDB files and simulations. Jacques Luckes has been working on an interesting new project taking advantage of this implementation, the new Mesh to Volume modifier.

This allows among other things for EEVEE to display volumetric shapes without having to rely on shading wizardry and cursed node-trees. The modifier can only be applied to volume objects, taking a mesh imput to shape the volume object accordingly.
