Dalai Felinto outlines in a new post on the Blender Developers Blog how Intel Embree was implemented, drastically increasing Motion Blur computations in Blender Cycles starting release 2.90.
Learn how @intel #Embree made Cycles motion blur up to 10 times faster in complex scenes. https://t.co/QUCUNP3mXZ #b3d #intel

This implementation is the brainchild of Stefan Werner, senior software engineer for rendering at Tangent Animation, the Canadian animation studio which uses Blender extensively in its pipeline, including cycles for rendering. The need arose for faster motion blur when Tangent Animation was working on their animated feature “Next Gen”, pushing Stefan to work on the Intel Embree implementation.
With some help from Brecht Van Lommel, Embree finally made it’s way to Blender 2.90, offering sometimes drastic increases in performance in scenes such as Agent 327.

This has been working great for me with a complex character animation with hair and a detailed scene with lots of movement! When things get complex, it's really doing the job!
