Quick timelapse of what went into making the Conor McGregor animation.
For those interested in cutout animation, Blender is capable of it and more.
You can also do 2d animation using the grease pencil.Process breakdown [simplified]:
- Come up with storyboard.
- Gather reference images for the character(s).
- Design environment.
- Illustrate character.
- Setup environment in 3d space.
- Import assets & character into 3d space.
- Rig character.
- Animate.
In the video I mentioned Gisela, which is a very talented content creator, illustrator, and designer. She helped out with the environment assets, giving them a stylistic look. You can find her work here.
