Hey Blender Heads,

Jayden Beveridge from Animal Logic is going to show his 3D work and Adam Earle will talk about the Asics project he worked on.

If you have any work you would like to discuss then bring it on USB or your laptop.

This is NOT a Blender for beginners workshop. If you are a beginner you are still welcome. Next month we will have another workshop.

Tuesday 29th October, JMC Academy (15 min walk from Central Station, across from Power House Museum). Attend from 6-9pm to cover those who have to leave earlier and those who get there later.

  1. Various links regarding discussions from last night's meet up...
IanHubert does Lazy Tutorials for Blender:
His Blender Conference talk recently was fun:
Royal Skies LLC also does a series of very short tutorials that are fast and fun:
I mentioned Paul Caggegi's comic art tutorials on freestyle and his toon shaders:
After @Tim Bywater - tilmah mentioned this video:
I saw a greebled torus as one of the artworks and brought up this blenderartists thread (from 2012 until now) about doing some unusual things with UVs and displacement to create buildings, space ships and sculpture:…/…/31
Here is a very simple version of it in a training video from Oliver Villar in BlendTuts:
I will go through this at some point and save the best links. In the meantime here are some great examples of how to do it and what can be done:…/…/432…/…/479…/…/494…/…/502…/…/547…/…/567…/…/579…/…/734…/…/751…/…/765…/…/1257
I found another video on using this technique:
A tutorial to use it with Freestyle.…/…/861
One of the posts I found last night was using this set of displacement maps available on Gumroad:
Also this greeble displacement map generator was mentioned:
Although this was not made with Blender, it is a small indie production that used a lot of shortcuts, both with physical sets and CG to create something of superb quality:
Watch the full short film above then watch this short video showing scene breakdowns:
Here is an article about it:…/ningyo-vfx-artist-couple-diy-fantasy…
Oh and here is Curtis Holt's channel as I was talking about his Mech Generator and Weapon Generator. He also did By-Gen.
