This is a 5 minute video that covers a method of customising the out of focus elements (Bokeh) in a Cycles render. Adding imperfections to surfacing is a great way to get closer to photo-realism, so why not do the same to with the Bokeh?

I knew this trick from i believe Creative Shrimp. It also works simply by using a plane. IS the effect better when using a box?

You can also m ake shapes, which is really nice. I even tried it with different external render engine and it also worked. Only downfall is that because the lens is aprtially blocked, the renders render tends to get a bit darker
