    This is awesome!
I'm a 3d modeler and animator but mostly organics and anything I've modeled previously, I've done so by eye and occasionally I'm asked to work up a mechanical design but was unable to be accurate. Most of the time that's not required but sometimes it would be a big help!

Thanks so much for sharing these insights as I'm sure I will be utilizing them in my next build!!

  2. Really enjoyed this tutorial and learned quite a few new techniques. I've only recently learned the Boolean modifier, but the bevel technique is so much better. Thanks.

  3. Great tutorial- and some nice fundamental for Blender taught here.
Seems like some of those shapes would be perfect for boolean operations. That would also be a great tool to introduce to new users.

  4. I do a lot of mechanical hard surface modelling with precise measurements, so thought I'd watch to see if you used any different techniques.
Glad I did, learnt something about the use of the bevel tool for those half round cutouts.
I normally put a temporary vertice in the centre, then use the spin tool and have to remove doubles and clean up various bits.
So thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks!

  5. This is excellent tutorial...If we are able to create 2D drawing for manufacturing in Blender itself...We will not need any 3D softwares.....it wil be revolution in blender and mechanical world....
I am mechanical Engineer ..and developed various different products from scratch-concept to prototype....time is wasted in using different software for different stages like for sketch - render-3d concept-production drawing.....etc...i used almost 60% software exists in the world....

My copy of 2.8 doesn't display "measurement tools" in the right column tool bar. I tried to locate as an addon. No luck! I don't rule out that I've overlooked something. Any ideas?
