In this Blender tutorial I show how to create a 2D animation with Blender and the addon cutout animation tools by Andreas Esau. You can create 2d animations with every image you like, turn it into a detailed mesh and also apply weight painting for it, as I demonstrate it in this following tutorial.
After creating the animation I render it out as an image sequence and import it into the game engine Unity 5 for Mecanim animations.

Hi! Great Stuff!
I see wonderful chances for a team-up between Cutout Animation and Grease Pencil Animation in Blender!
2D artists heaven!
But: I have serious problems INSTALLING this thing!
It is not just one python-script but a whole suite of scripts. I can't find the ONE FILE which bundles everything and can be installed from the user preferences.
Or is my Blender version to old? (2.73)
HELP!
Great Video! Thank you! I have a problem, though:( When I try to edit mesh I do not see the 4 vertices points of rectangle that represents the loaded png. Therefore I cannot delete the original 4 point png. I can draw new vertices and apply triangulated mesh but it ends up with two meshes one on top of the other. In your videos you simply delete the original one and are left with the triangulated mesh. I have no clue how to sort this out. Any advice is much appreciated!
I really want to animate :D
All best

Bonjour
