IShort notes of today's meeting in irc.freenode.net #blendercoders
1) Release targets for 2.77
- Added as options: OpenSubdiv library update, and Python (3.5) library update.
- As agreed on, we only define final targets later, earliest next month.
2) The 2.8 project, or other projects
- Lukas Toenne is exploring a different implementation for texture nodes. Code is here. Videos:
- Ton Roosendaal is too busy to help coordinating 2.8 preparations this month, but he does work on subsidy application for 2.8 coding work in 2016.
- Many coders like to see a 2.8 branch already. Agreed is to wait with that until we agree on what we do there :)
- But - we can start gathering design docs and todo lists in wiki. Julian Eisel accepted to moderate the section. If you want to add pages there, connect with him.

This new Blender 2.8 sounds so exiting. I'm very interested in what will be the new workflow, and how will it combine with the custom manipulator project.
Hopefully the workflow sprint will be scheduled soon and the results and proposals published.
The "Code is here" link points to this article, instead of the code.
I think a kickstarter campaign would be great for Blender dev funding, and I would certainly donate if it is made!
You can already donate to the Blender Development Fund:

Yeah, not good. I want to donate on specific features to be done. Not to some non-transparent fund I have a feeling if I donate no more things will get done.
We need kick-starter with clearly defined goals. And if the goals are not met some money-back guarantee.
Same here. I would certainly fund someone to rebuild the entire Blender UI from the ground up for example.
Texture nodes for the bge? #hopesfor2.8
WIth texture node animation, I can finally animate terrains procedurally and non-linearly, in an easier and readier manner. Been hoping for such a thing for a while.
Good luck with everything, guys! Hope things go smoothly and as planned. I look forward to seeing what Texture Nodes offer.
