This should be in trunk by default. Very good tool for motion tracking purposes.

So it really just allows you to do a 3d zoom in right? I mean if you did a 3D rotate everything would look insane I assume.
It's basically a helper addon for set reconstruction and projection mapping. Pretty useful, although, as you say, a sweeping camera move would break the illusion.
It is a pretty cool addon, but I think it's worth pointing out that BLAM has been around for awhile. Daniel Kreuter did a tutorial/review on it a couple years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeWzQYh7iH0
