Weekend Contest: Change

31

SubjectNameHere won our last weekend contest with his slick Blender-logo like robot. He picked 'Change' as our next topic. A change in your life maybe? Or the change of seasons? Or the gory mutation of an alien.. There's enough

Post your work below (attach an image and a screenshot if you like), and vote for your winner. The winner will get a post next week, and will get to pick next weekend’s contest theme. Have fun!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. A low poly scene of the four seasons. I created a complete scene for every season (see also the second image), and then mixed a quarter of each horizontally to achieve the final result.

I think you could split summer and spring a bit differently. Clouds and rain for spring and a nice sun for summer. You know, like you'd see on the weather channel or something.

      • Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought of that and you are absolutely right that the left part of the image is somewhat the same and boring compared to the right part.

So, I have two entries for you this weekend! I couldn't decide which one to enter, so.... Here's the first one! "Artist takes it literally."
Rendered in cycles. Enjoy! Comments and critiques welcome!

And here's my second entry, "Night and Day." I was going for a cardboard diorama feel. Enjoy! Once again, comments and critiques appreciated!

Here's mine. Everything's made in blender. It's amazing how much Blender has developed and it's obvious how impressive it is to watch an awesome 3d Software evolve.

  5. Throughout time we all press this button, sometimes someone else is pressing it for us, but change is good... mostly

    culdnt resist that one :)

  7. Made mine this weekend only. Interpret it as you want, but idea is walking from a cold, frozen place, out the door to a warm and comforting place.

Looking back, the ice texture could have been better, and because I didn't want to spend a lot of time, the other side of the boot is a complete mess. A nice way to apply the Pancake Hobo tutorial though!

    Enjoy!

    Enjoy!

Looking back, the ice texture could have been better, and because I didn't want to spend a lot of time fixing texture paint mistakes, the other side of the boot is a complete mess. What is seen is what matters though :).

Enjoy! (Not sure if the image is showing)

      • Disqus can be sneaky :( If the image don't show up after posting, I found that refreshing the browser window usually does the trick. Clearing browser cache also does the trick sometimes. Nice image btw! Nothing beats getting inside after spending time out in the snow... :)

  10. Today was the first day that I've been on a computer in nine days. Anyways, here's my entry: "Aimless Objective"

As always, critiques and comments are much appreciated!
