Lear how to set up Maya style viewport manipulation while avoiding conflicts with Blender's hotkeys.

In this little video tutorial I explain how to set up Blender for Maya style 3D viewport navigation without keyboard shortcut conflicts. I know that a lot of people coming from other 3D software packages already tried Blender but gave up quickly because of Blender's default way of selecting stuff and the viewport navigation which is "so different" ;) This video will be probably very helpful :)

  1. I've been using Blender for several months and never liked Blender default mouse selection mode. In User Preferences I inverted left click selection with right click selection but still didn't like it because I always had to click the left button again to confirm the new position of a vertex once moved. Now, after watching the tutorial, I decided to use "Maya" presets for the mouse just to discover this is the exact behavior I always wanted my mouse to have. For some reasons the additional right mouse click to confirm the new vertex position is not required anymore.
How many people know that "Maya" presets does something more that just inverting "left mouse selection" with "right mouse selection"?
Thanks a lot for the video!

  2. My thing is, Blender's viewport navigation being "different" is what makes it work so well. When I use Max or Maya, navigation is horrendously painful because it makes no sense coming from Blender. It's the same for most of the other tools too, lol.
