Michael writes:Since sunday I’m on holiday on a farm and for this I just have my Iphone and a very poor connection. Barely enough to see that the votes were on my side! Very exciting thing to choose the next topic!
So here we go:
As a child I attached two strings at our open kitchen window and balanced a plate on them to make my very own picture of a flying saucer. The resulting photo was a little blurry so the strings weren’t visible;-) This time the same idea but another tool. The topic of this weekend contest is:

I think part of the fun on these weekend contests is not having any time to plan and just going for it :)
Very good sculpting! This guy would scare me off if I met him on the streets. :) I think it’s very well-done for a weekend! It is not easy to get done in such short time. After all we do have to get live between the Blendering sessions to. :) I waited until the last minute and still feel I could tweak and fix a lot on my image. But again, the time limit is half of the challenge with these contests. :)
Thanks for the comment. I never expected anyone to actually comment on my sculpt. As more people started posting their images, I got more and more embarrassed about my submission and wished I could take it down. But getting even a couple of positive comments has inspired this ‘non-artist’/3d-hobbyist to try harder and stick with it.
Well, you have no reason to be embarrassed by this lovely sculpted alien head. I’m glad our comments motivates you. I also do think that those who creates art, like your sculpt for instance, have the right to call themselves an artist :), even though it’s a hobby. For me the Blender activities is mostly a hobby too, but I have learned that my (limited)skills can be fascinating enough to get paid commissions. I never would have got those opportunities if I didn’t stick with it :).
Here is my first attempt at a contest! I need a bit more work with modeling humans, or in this case aliens, but it is good.

So for this one I went to the local art store and got me some cardboard, christmas lights and – oh, what? You’re not buying it? Ah well, Blender 2.69 then, cycles renderer.

Hello, I’ve been working on this character model for a while and I think it is a good chance to place a render. His name is Robby it is a character that apears in a Mexican Comic called Karmatron by Oscar Gonzalez Loyo a Mexican cartoonist.
This weekend I worked a simple rig to pose the character, Blender + Cycles & some post processing on GIMP.
By the way Robby is not from this universe hope you like it n_n
So here is my first entry to a competition! The story came from a simple thought: Why should mankind be the target of an extraterrestrial assault or contact? It is human ignorance that makes us think that. So, here is kind of an alternative scenario to that :) Rendered at 256 samples on GPU, no textures used except blender procedurals.

Thank you, that’s what I do most with Blender currently. However, the organic ant was actually much more interesting as a model, but due to the dark lighting it’s a bit hard to see.

This topic gave me a lot of idea’s. In fact i struggled to pick one. I landed on this one. (Actually this was an idea from my fiancee). Made in Blender, Cycles. Textures in Inkscape & gimp. Minor post-pro in Gimp also. Hope you like it! :)
