Michael won last weekend's contest with his entry 'Murder On The Kitchen Table!'. His pick for this weekend is going to bring us aliens! Cool :)
Since sunday I'm on holiday on a farm and for this I just have my Iphone and a very poor connection. Barely enough to see that the votes were on my side! Very exciting thing to choose the next topic!
So here we go:
As a child I attached two strings at our open kitchen window and balanced a plate on them to make my very own picture of a flying saucer. The resulting photo was a little blurry so the strings weren't visible;-) This time the same idea but another tool. The topic of this weekend contest is:
Looking forward to meet new galactic friends or to see giant spaceships over your hometown!
And thank you Bart for hosting these enjoyable contests.
Bye for now,
Another brilliant topic, thanks Michael!
Post your work below (attach an image), and vote for your winner. The winner will get a post on monday, and will get to pick next weekend’s contest theme. Have fun!
Not an Alien, but a close encounter never the less
I suggest creativity! http://www.botaday.com/node/1242/p
Just for fun.... Suzanne was hiding in the mountain.
When a Lamborghini Egoista meets a UFO...
Good Luck Everyone!
Could use more tweaking, a real background, etc....but hate to wait until the last minute to submit.
Thanks. I like your scene too.
Lot's of nice stuff popping up today.
I'm gonna have to plan/execute a bit better next time.
I think part of the fun on these weekend contests is not having any time to plan and just going for it :)
Very good sculpting! This guy would scare me off if I met him on the streets. :) I think it's very well-done for a weekend! It is not easy to get done in such short time. After all we do have to get live between the Blendering sessions to. :) I waited until the last minute and still feel I could tweak and fix a lot on my image. But again, the time limit is half of the challenge with these contests. :)
Thanks for the comment. I never expected anyone to actually comment on my sculpt. As more people started posting their images, I got more and more embarrassed about my submission and wished I could take it down. But getting even a couple of positive comments has inspired this 'non-artist'/3d-hobbyist to try harder and stick with it.
Well, you have no reason to be embarrassed by this lovely sculpted alien head. I'm glad our comments motivates you. I also do think that those who creates art, like your sculpt for instance, have the right to call themselves an artist :), even though it's a hobby. For me the Blender activities is mostly a hobby too, but I have learned that my (limited)skills can be fascinating enough to get paid commissions. I never would have got those opportunities if I didn't stick with it :).
Here is my first attempt at a contest! I need a bit more work with modeling humans, or in this case aliens, but it is good.
Hmm, it says I posted this as "Guest". Here it goes again!
It's a simple scene, but I think you made some really nice forms. :) The space ship is very cute!
Thanks! I do need to work on detail... :D
Close encounters of the pork kind.
Fantastic image, great characters!
This one made me laugh till I got tears in my eyes! :) Very good composition! Nice expressions on the characters! :)
This is the winner if I am to decide. :)
"Object in the rear-view mirror"
So for this one I went to the local art store and got me some cardboard, christmas lights and - oh, what? You're not buying it? Ah well, Blender 2.69 then, cycles renderer.
Love the style on this one!
You had me going for a minute!:) Brilliant idea, funny and well done! :)
I found this old picture of shipwrecked alien girl from my attic... Looks like she is hitchhiking?
(Something I started last Friday and tweaked 'bit so it kinda fits well to this comp. All Blender ofc.:))
Hello, I've been working on this character model for a while and I think it is a good chance to place a render. His name is Robby it is a character that apears in a Mexican Comic called Karmatron by Oscar Gonzalez Loyo a Mexican cartoonist.
This weekend I worked a simple rig to pose the character, Blender + Cycles & some post processing on GIMP.
By the way Robby is not from this universe hope you like it n_n
So here is my first entry to a competition! The story came from a simple thought: Why should mankind be the target of an extraterrestrial assault or contact? It is human ignorance that makes us think that. So, here is kind of an alternative scenario to that :) Rendered at 256 samples on GPU, no textures used except blender procedurals.
"where can I find the leader of this planet?"
Really cool scene.
tank you very much, I'm glad you like it!
Really nice hard edge modeling there :)
Thank you, that's what I do most with Blender currently. However, the organic ant was actually much more interesting as a model, but due to the dark lighting it's a bit hard to see.
Good idea and a better realisation, congrats!
Thanks, glad to hear that!
"He's over there! That giant kid with the magnifying glass. If you stay in the shadows he might let you live!" Haha! :) Cool image! I Like your way of thinking. This explains why we haven't met any aliens yet, kinda hard to spot down there :)
tehehe, didn't think about that component so far. Just imagine, Earth could already have had contact with extraterresrial lifeforms, but then a kid came along and......
This is my entry for this weekend. For me, this encounter inspired me ... Not very elaborate, because I have not had much time ... Made entirely in Blender. Hope you like!!
This is AO...
This topic gave me a lot of idea's. In fact i struggled to pick one. I landed on this one. (Actually this was an idea from my fiancee). Made in Blender, Cycles. Textures in Inkscape & gimp. Minor post-pro in Gimp also. Hope you like it! :)
I like it. Looks very Robot Chicken lol.
Thank you! I ran a little short on time on this one, but if you had a laugh I'm sure you could see what is going on here. :) "No little humans makes claim of this planet!" :)
"UFO Sighting Causes Panic among Cyclopz!"
Well, I imagine something like this could happen when alien life encounters a space shuttle from earth :)
Great idea. Nicely done.
Decided to stick with the classics. I think I'll call it....Drive Through Dairy
Nice lighting and "mood".
Got me thinking about a 'thanks for all the fish' or 'best laid plans of mice' type of scene.
Too late now though. (Sorry for the 'Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy' references, hah!)
Lol, not going to lie, I briefly considered doing a Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy piece! I was probably going to do the miniature aliens who invaded earth and got licked up by the dog.
Hah, I forgot about that one. I've been thinking about trying to sculpt a Vogon lately for some reason. A Vogon poetry reading coulda been a good 'close encounter'.
Yeah, this looks just like an everyday scene on the countryside!:) Another well crafted piece of art from the Low poly master! :)
lol idk about master, I'm still getting the hang of the style. There are tons of artists out there way better than me at low poly XD
"From Another Point of View." What could have possibly scared off the moon men? Perhaps... Space Invaders? From Earth?
Thought the contest looked like fun so here is my entry.
I hope it's not too late, the render took a really long time :)
"My spatial friend"
Behind the scenes
Here's my entry. This contest was quite fun!
Well....some minutes too late, but anyway...my alienhead-sculpt:
