Studio Insizium from Portugal present a 65-episode series for kids.
Amadeu Silva writes:
The Portuguese company Insizium, SA produced a 65 episode series named Visiokids, using Blender software. Insizium team used Blender for 3D stereo animation, modelling and rendering. Focused on children 6 up to 10 years old, the series has been designed to divulge science in a fun and informal manner. The series is broadcasting on channel 2 of the Portuguese national TV (RTP 2).
Meanwhile Jorge Ribeiro, leader team at Insizium, was a speaker at the Blender Conference 2013, held at Amsterdam.
To complement the Visiokids learning experience, Insizium also produced interactive applications in 3D stereo for all the characters, which are available in the Interactive Virtual Reality equipment installed in Insizium’s Science Centre called Visionarium, near the city of Porto, Portugal. Each one of the five personalities – Atómico, Bit, Cassiopeia, Cósmico and Vita – is a specialist in one of the areas of knowledge.

Great job guys!
It's both very entertaining and informative.
This is something I would love to watch as a child.
Congratulations on the excellent job!
..and thank you for running a studio that uses Blender!
Wish you the best of lucks! (not that you need it..)
Hey Bart! The link to http://www.insizium.com/ loops back to this page..
Fixed it, thanks!
Professional work!
Love when Blender gets used like this as it brings in a lot of prestige if done right. This is definitely one of those cases.
very good !
how long did it take you to create one of those 2 minute movies ?
Hey! Thanks for all the good comments. It feels great to see your work appreciated.
We started developing the characters back in december 2013, the pilot was ready after a ton of changes by the end of February.
We hope to finish the 65 episodes by the end of November. Some episodes took as little as 5 days from Animation to final export but some 2 second shots from other episodes took about 3 weeks. It depends a lot!
>> We started developing the characters back in december 2013,
Somehow I doubt it. :)
how come?! :)
Aghhhhh!!!! I meant 2012!!!!!....
Wow, that's an impressive turnaround time. How many people are in your team?
working full time 10. Right now, 3 animators, 4 modelers/texturers 1 Lighting/finishing 1AfterEffectscompositing, 1 director/storyboard/animatic/aftereffects/jackofalltrades
Impressive. Thanks for sharing!
I'm curious if this was Blender Internal renderer, Cycles, or another renderer. Thanks in advance!
The episodes were rendered in Blender Internal. We couldn´t afford to wait the time Cycles was asking us!
The inserts, those explanations in the middle of each episode, are sometimes rendered in Cycles...
Good old Blender Internal is still a great renderer :)
Congratulations to Jorge and all the team for the fantastic work with Blender.
