Balazs Oszvald has used Blender to model assets for the indy game 'The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing'.

Hello Hunters,
I just want to inform you, that The incredible adventures of Van Helsing has just been released on Steam. This is an indie RPG game placed in a gothic-noir world of Borgovia, where the son of the famous Van Helsing is going to save the day.
...and what does it have to do with Blender? Of course it has a lot of Blender-made stuff in it.
I have worked as 3D environment artist and used Blender all last year creating a bunch of assets for the game. For technical enthusiasts: Blender was used for modeling and UV editing, Photoshop and proprietary software for texturing. We used the FBX format as a common medium to communicate between Blender, XSI and the in-house software. Most models use 2 UV sets for extra high texture detail. Nearly everything has diffuse, specular and normal maps on it with nice material shaders.

Great idea, But i'm desoriented by this photos... all three are in diferent states of developement... The game is ready?
Second paragraph: "The incredible adventures of Van Helsing has just been released on Steam."
So, yes ;-)
I think since he was "only" doing the modelling he shows these assets without any shading in clay renders.
Also, as said in the text, they used XSI and their propietary software in addition to blender (for modelling/UV-ing), so the materials weren't actually done in blender it seems.
By the way the assets shown in the pictures are pretty cool, love the detail and its awesome to see everything come together in the trailer!
This is really awesome. I was just looking at this game yesterday when it came out. I love the style.
Does anyone know what game engine they're using? I know the article says proprietary software but it doesn't indicate if that's just for the models or the SDK.
Over all .. fantastic looking game. Can't wait to try it out!
My money's on the game engine being Unity.
That's what I'm assuming as well, but would love to get confirmation.
In-house engine. The enhanced version of the one used in the King Arthur series...
Nice!
Decent!
Very decent!
Ha! Not modeler friend just recommended this game for me. Now I'll have to pick it up!
Looks Great, awesome textures! :O
will you release a mac version?
XBLA comes first...
Great work, keep blending! Greetings from Hungary.
mmmm i don´t get it
did you only create the models ( enviroment, cloth, effects, etc.. ) ? or the game with blender, photoshop and others ?
i don´t understand exactly what you made, please explain, thank you
I did modeling and UV-editing tasks as it is in the shots to be seen. It included buildings, vehicles, ornaments, etc.
AWESOME
Congratulations
& thanx 4 replying me
I've been waiting for this one to come out, and had it on my wishlist about a month before release. Happily it was mentioned here and I went and bought it right away. :D
Hey!
Looks really good. It is good to see that some Hungarian fellow is doing such work and have such job. It makes me a believer :).
Haven't heard of this game before but it looks cool. I may buy it. Just to support my good old fellow countryman.
Keep up the good work.

For any curious folk, I bought this and really enjoy the game. It's pretty inexpensive for the hours of entertainment you get out of it.
Yes it does, and the game is absolutely beautiful and plays great. Surprising when you think how some big studio games of this type look mediocre in comparison.
I agree. It's inspiring since I'm a hopeful game creator myself.Seeing small studios pull out such a fantastic looking and feeling game like this gives me great hope!
Someday ... someday ...
Good job dude. Nice artwork, and the game looks like it was worth working on.
