Script: Sculpt Trim Curves Utility

Alex Telford shares a new script.

Alex writes:

Hey guys!

Today I am going to announce a new script I have been working on, this python script is the sculpt trim curves utility and works like the clip curves brush in z-brush.
Now this is a public beta, so there is some bugs, in fact I have little time to work on it so for any devs out there I have made sure this is well commented and even included a short header doc pointing to the main bug.

For anyone looking to learn more about python you can read the comments and it will tell you what each line is doing, because I am just that helpful :)

So enjoy the script and here is a video showing how it works:

Originally I was going to make this a premium script or something, but instead I decided to only charge the price of a tweet/facebook share (Free).
Now that is much more awesome isn’t it
You can download the script just by sharing.

  1. A 120-hour work week? Even if you could work that many hours, you won't be able to do it for long or risk a burn-out.

    But great add-on BTW!!

      • If you have a 120 hour working week that would mean 17-hour working days for 7 days a week! I don't believe anyone would be able to do that for moe than a week without getting a burn out.

A few years ago I worked a 48-hour working week for 1.5 months and it affected me severely.

        • "...About to start working anywhere up to 120 hours a week...", that is pretty much the maximum, my normal week is half that.
Besides, Weta make life very nice for their team ;)

  2. Thank you Alex,
this looks like a super modifier to make booleans, I like the operation area, it's intuitive.
I'll test it as soon as I can.

  3. Brian Lockett on

Wow, you're a hard-working guy. I can understand that a bit. I work 14 to 16 hours a day myself. So big kudos to you to get this side project done, even just this much!

Thanks for the share--and such a brilliant share, at that! I've been hoping the sculpt tools in Blender would start to grow more robust, and this seems like a good step in that direction. I like how this addon allows you to draw with the Grease Pencil or curves, which is a clever way to give you control over the trims. Should prove very useful, and the code should prove motivating and educational to those wanting to create addons.

    Thanks again, Alex!

  4. Sorry there was no option for G+
This script will make it to the CG Cookie script bakery probably this week, I just wanted to try out the paywithatweet button, and with 1000 downloads it has worked rather well ;)
