Armchair

A great short movie by Bruno Dorbani.

Bruno Dorbani writes:

I have just finished a 2 years long project I'm working on (not on a full time basis ;-) ) and I would like to share it with you.

Its a short movie called "Armchair". This short was mostly done using Blender from 2.5 to 2.61 version. Rendering is done using the internal engine even if the introduction use a mix of Flash and After Effect.

I'd like to thanks all the people that helped me so far and mostly Kiopaa for his work on the rigging, and Igmar for is great musical composition.

It's realesed creative common attribution, and I'll do certainly the same with all the file I'm allowed to during the beguinning of 2013.

Furthermore a making of is on the way !

I hope you enjoy watching it as much as me doing it.

  1. Nice and funny, congratz.

I really like the overall look it reminds me the good old hanna barbera's. Materials, shading... im a little jealous, that look is the one im looking for my shorts.

  2. Quite amusing. Reminds me of myself with some IKEA furniture but the most vivid memories are of the children's Christmas presents. Christmas eve and assembly late into the night with the ever present dread of messing up or a part missing and only to find out they liked the boxes better.

  3. Heheh, that was so funny, and also I felt bad for the poor guy; I can relate to his suffering (mostly after unpacking IKEA furniture...).

How he achieved those vector-like renders? I don't think BI's is that accurate, but maybe I'm wrong (I said vector because from afar it looked like an animation made in Flash, not just the introduction of course - how he managed to hide every contour and shadow from the final render?) Questions and questions, can't wait for the "making of" :)

  4. HI guys thank's for your comment ! I'm really happy that you enjoy it !!
just a little question did you guys (and girls) see the last part after the credits or does every body zap before this endding ?

and for Brigadewing and 50lpp : the render is blender internal from version 2.61
I will explain that in the making off !

    cheers ! Dorbs

  5. you should be proud! that was well done and entertaining. Congratulations, I can't wait to see the secrets you share with the making of..

  6. Great work!

I loved the entire project! Its a hazard watching so many videos and movies you start to notice edits, cuts, pacing, angles, lighting, ect. I was completely absorbed by the style and story I have almost no feedback to offer. The only thing the I found off was at the start the truck was a simple tween from right to left that did not follow the angle of the road. That is it! Not only did on complete a project. You did it very very well.

    What's next?
