One of the many features you can find on our DVD is an extensive 9 minute (!) VFX breakdown video. It was edited by Pablo Vazquez and shows some of the most stunning shots of Tears of Steel! A huge thanks goes to Joram who gave me his Ok to mangle his soundtrack.
Enjoy!

It's great to see the actual level of detail that went into ToS. And there's a lot of levels and a lot of detail.
LOD is very high, and overall I'm impressed, but some of the large open indoor shots look, to my eye, too desaturated and lacking contrast. I noticed it when I watched TOS originally, but it jumped out at me here because you can see some of the scenes before the final compositing was done. Was this done intentionally (out of necessity) to better blend the life action with the rendered output?
If not, was that the look you were going for?
What we can do without Mr Roosendaal.... that's great
Looks awesome in space XD
Fantastic job. For the amount of shots and the time given in which to do them, I'm impressed. That last shot still gives me the chills.
Really awesome! Thanks for posting this.
I was blown away the first time I watched Tears of Steel and again after watching this breakdown. Tight!
