    •  With the use of the boolean, you need two meshes: one for the roof and one for the boolean operator, it is therefore not so fast for quick studies. Here you just have the roof, and if you move/edit it the walls adjust.

      •  Well, I liked this because I never used Shrinkwrap and might try it now after watching the video, is sure offers different possibilities than booleans and might come in handy in some cases, thanks for sharing this idea!  But for this I would use boleeans too as freemind points out. It's still two meshes in both cases, the roof you use is just for cutting anyway, to get the final roof shape you still have some editing to do. And with booleans you can skip the subsurf part and the resulting cut is very clean. instead of a plane with thickness roof you will have a large cube with the underside shaped as the roof, from this you can easily copy the angled planes and make the actual roof.
But it's great there are more ways to make one thing, for everyone works best the tool he's most accustomed to.

        • I agree with you Oana that you have several ways to achieve the same goal, but why I like this one too is:
-with boolean, when you enter edit mode to change the shape of the roof, you don't see the effect, so for the design step, it's less intuitive.
-boolean works well only with manifold meshes (yes, I know, I should have correct models if I work well...)
-with boolean you get triangle faces when you apply it, not with the shrikwrap. It's not very important indeed, but I don't like triangles when not needed.
-mainly I like to try different ways :-D

          • All very good points, nothing to object except to the fact that by using the subsurf, when you apply the modifier don't you get more subdivision than you need and those awkward parts you are hiding with the offset? probably I dislike that more than triangles. But I should test this a bit before going on discussing it :) and I would also like to test it with b-mesh, things might get better. Liked your website a lot. Cheers!

  1. Interesting tip.  Thanks for sharing.  Don't know what that scratching noise was in the mid section, but it was distracting.

  2.  I enjoyed very much to visit your site Viralata! I studied architecture for a couple of years, than I changed to a Visual Arts program. Your work reminded me those times with a little bit of nostalgia :)

Can I ask you if "Viralata" is inspired by its meaning in Portuguese? ;)

  3. Thanks all for the comments.
mon cher Meltingman, your written english is as good as my spoken one ;-D
Francisco : I don't know if it's the same meaning, but I brought back this name from Brazil.
