We recently put together some breakdowns, showing how we did a few of the CG shots featured in our short, Assembly: Life in Macrospace. If you're interested in seeing a bit of how it was made, then watch on.
All of the CG shots were made in blender and rendered in blender internal, though some of the fluid sim was done with realflow and later imported into blender. Post processing was a mix of blenders compositor and After Effects.
