Blender Cookie dives into Cycles and gives a 40 minute introduction in their latest video tutorial.
Jonathan Williamson writes:
In this Blender 2.5 tutorial we introduce you to the new Cycles render engine that is being developed for Blender. This engine is still under heavy development but is set to be included with the official release later this year.
Cycles offers a much more realistic, interactive rendering workflow than the current Blender Internal engine and is a lot of fun to work with.
You can download development versions that include Cycles from http://graphicall.org.

I cannot wait for this to be integrated into 2.60. Great work!
2.60 will change everything.
2.61 ;)
Nodes for everything. Time to start mastering nodes.
Nodes are epic! :D
Thank you, Jonathan!
I have just started today to look for such a kind of information, and voila - here it is!
Ha! Cycles will own Maya internal in both speed and quality once it is out of pre-alpha stage! Let's go, Blender! :D
I hope to see this fully integrated into Blender soon.
This will be a brilliant asset.
Get small subscriptions. Having dedicated, committed, and PAID coders and programmers on the Blender team has obviously cut paid huge dividends.
I'm very interested to see how we handle the compositor with cycles...or vice versa.
God, I really want to see the final product. After getting a lil' info, I'm really attracted to this idea.
Do you have to be subscribed to them to see it? Not cool, you could note that in the article to save users wasting time.
WooHoo! Thanks very much Jonathon!!
@Not Like This
What are you talking about? Are you having a bad day, or do you want just troll around?
There is no subscription necessary to see it. Everyone can take a look at it. Maybe you should take a closer look before starting a rant.
Back to topic.
This is really damn nice. I love this renderer. Can't wait until it is in the official builds.
No, you only need to be logged in to download the scene file used in the tutorial. You can watch the tute itself right there on link.
Hmm... I get the not autorised block thingy, can't view the video. Must be my end of things then if others see it. Apologies!
Ton Roosendall is Santa Claus! Or Sinter Klaas, or whatever they call him in Holland. :)
Honestly, Blender is like a bottomless sack full of presents, with more new goodies continually pouring out, courtesy of the Blender Foundation. It is the most amazing piece of software I have ever used.
