Using a setup with Kinect 3D scanners and a Rapman 3D printer, the Spanish studio blablaLab have turned visitors of La Rambla in Barcelona into performers. They all got a 3D printed version of themselves. The project was done entirely with free and open software, like openFrameworks, openKinect, MeshLab, Skeinforge and Blender.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

haha that was a splendid idea, introducing modern technology like that to the masses. Just wondering, did you charge anything for that or was it entirely for the purpose of advertising your studio and open source products?
