The pilot episode of television show Babioles, is finished!
Mathieu Auvray writes:
I have the pleasure to announce that the first episode of 'Babioles' is finished ! We actually did all the 3D with blender 2.49b.
Unfortunately I cannot show it entirely because we need to send it to TV network and festival and we need to keep it away from the internet for now, but I've made two trailers! We're on discussion with some french TV network and different productions to start the production of 12 or 14 episodes in September. Of course we'll keep you posted :)
You can also see a 50 second except from the pilot here: http://www.vimeo.com/9863121
Be sure to also check out the babioles blog which has some seriously cute frames from the show.

i'd like to see the show!
This is so great. I like the style. Sometimes the camera is toooo shaky (for me). Real and 3D with blender. Really great work. Thanks for posting.
Really great!! I love it! Ha, I can't wait to see the complete video!
So entertaining... when can we see more :D
Very interesting style of combining live-action plates + 3D.
pure awesomeness!!!!
ahuahuahuahuahuauhahuahuahuahuahuahuahuahu
awesome!
Great Sequence Matray, as Always ...!
I like to know more about techniques using for tracking...
Nice! Looks as it will contain loads of black humor! I can't wait to see it!
This looks really well done!
What render engine does it use?
Very nice quality.
Been nice watching this one develop, thanks for the trailer! Good luck with the show!
Fantastic - I've been waiting for something as good as this.
@Rui Paulo - some brown humour as well
The last part made my day, thanks :)
i can't understand where there is 3d and where there is real world...
what other software did you use for this?
anyway, it's wonderful!
lol. Great work!
I'm curious: did you do the compositing in Blender or export into something like After Effects?
AWESOME :D
Lol, this is brilliant!!... love the action part.
This looks great! What are you using for camera tracking?
pretty cool :D
Actually we've used PFTrack for the tracking and Nuke for the compositing. Blender compositing system is too limited for such a complicated integration into real backgrounds. (we've missed a nice and complex color correction tool, 2d tracking and grain match like Nuke or other software have)
But all the 3d was made with blender, and the renders are from the internal.
Fantastic work Matray! Good luck with the screening of Babioles! :)
Dang that looks great, visually and the timing of the animation is solid, nice work!
Hey Redbyte,
The producer of Babioles is Nicolas Schmerkin, Oscar winner for best animation short 2010 (Logorama). I'd think that makes it all even more exciting... :)

Hahaha love it :D
Excellent. The elevator movie is very funny!
Looks great! Best of luck with getting screenings/publishing.
p.s. the text, is a bit small. I found it hard to read.
Niiiice. Very cute :)
awesome work, guys!
This have to be funny! :D
I want to watch it soon!
I second this:
"Blender compositor is too limited. We’ve missed a nice and complex color correction tool, 2d tracking and grain match like Nuke or other software have."
Please, Blender Foundation, when 2.6 is ready, give the compositor an upgrade.
@matray Thanks for the response.
Yeah, I do all my compositing, CC, etc. in AE, but I've started migrating all my 3D to Blender. But I will add my voice for a post 2.6 upgrade to the compositor :)
If we do a bit well with durian (= sell plenty dvds! :) the next project then is Mango, which is meant to have a vfx theme, with dev focus on matchmove and colorgrading tools.
Wow! Thanks for the response, Ton. That is awesome.
That is awesome news (potentially) indeed.
Hahaha that was so much fun to watch.
I can't wait till it's out. How long will each episode be?
It looks awesome so far, I can't wait to see it!
I just added a task to my todo list : "Buy / Support Mango when available".
I was sure that I had already left a comment on this video... weird.
Anyway, Good work and very funny creatures. Congratulations.
Mango ? HeHe, one more fruit to drop in the Blender !
Wow, great news ! I love 3D juice !
