It's time again to start thinking about articles, tutorials and images for Issue # 27 of Blenderart Magazine. The theme for this issue is Shadow Showdown: Achieving Light/Shadow Balance Light without shadows is just, well bright. Good lighting generally shows a good balance of light vs. shadows.
This never seems to be an easy task, even with improvements to the Blender code. So once again we go in search of the perfect lighting solution.
And since there never seems to be a single solution that works for all situations, in addition to your best lighting rigs for general purposes & specialized solutions, we are looking for all your secrets, tips and techniques on:
Lighting game levels and characters, images, animations
- Atmospheric lighting
- Nodes/compositing for great lighting effects
- Colored shadows
- Ambient Occasion
- Lighting groups
- Textured lighting/shadows
Also wanted, great shaders, materials and node setups for great looking materials and effects.

Sounds like this could be a very useful issue.
Looking forward to it.
Good lighting is one of the most difficult things to learn as a beginner, this one should be very helpfull
Thank God in blender 2.5 there is something called overall lighting!
I still have to figure it out excactly but i think it's great , especially for games!
Cool,
but what kind of car is an Ambient Occasion :)
Greetings.
I can hardly wait! Thanks for all you do Sandra.
Ooooh, I suppose this could warrant my sweet hair lighting tutorial that is in my head. Are you only accepting tutorials for 2.51? Or can they be for 2.49, because I haven't ventured into the scary realms of 2.5 quite yet. :P
I can't wait for the release of this issue.
Also the website is down for the magasine itself.

That decision is completely up to you :)
RedJay: by all means, use 2.49 if you want. There are still many who haven't transitioned to the 2.5 series.
