Yep, it's true! Pablo Vazquez has just finished and shipped Venom Labs!, the new training DVD from the Blender Foundation! And guess what? Pablo has uploaded a tiny video introduction and walkthrough of the Blender Institute.
Venom's Lab! Tiny Walkthrough from Pablo Vazquez on Vimeo.
From the Blender e-Shop page:
This DVD covers all aspects to create advanced computer graphics, including modeling, sculpting, shading, lighting, creating fur, cloth simulation, rendering and compositing. Its ten chapters are each devoted to exploring a specific technique. By using one of the famous VenomGFX characters you will be lead step by step through all important tools and settings.

Lol, glad I watched the walkthrough I thought dvd's were used in the microwave :D Like his sense of humour, makes sense to me now. Like the look of this will get a copy when wages next in ;)
Nice work Pablo!
wow, that notebook screen is glossy! :p
nice dvd and funny video though! :)
"Yeaaay!"
I'm glad I've pre-ordered :D
Haha he dropped them all lol
The DVD and the Blender Institute look really cool! thanks for the tour Pablo!
I'm very tempted to order the DVD, but am wondering what level of previous blender knowledge is it aimed at?
btw, the link in the first line goes to the BN homepage, instead of the "Venom Labs!" home page ;)
wow thanks all!
yeah I sound ultra-excited in this video I know.. but couldn't help it, is so much fun!
@ nw: You don't need to be an expert in Blender to understand the tutorials on this DVD, I just like to skip the very very basics, like "how do I rotate the view?", "how to add a material?", or "what is edit mode? what is object mode?", "what's that monkey?", "what's that annoying red/white weird crosshair doing there?", and so on.. :)
I like it because it makes things flow faster and better, also most of the videos have keystrokes annotations on the top left corner of the screen.
Thanks BlenderNation,
(oh..just to be picky, you misspelled my last name once again.. :) is VaZquez, not a biggie, but for prosperity, thanks! :)
Thanks for the quick reply Pablo :)
I just checked out the sculpting tutorial sample on your blog, and although I already know the basics of the sculpt tool, the tutorial still taught me heaps more. If all the tutorials are as good as that one, this DVD will be great!
Just wanna say thanks also here... ;)
Hihi Pablo, you gonna hate me!!!
Congrats once again! Keep Rockin'!
Currently I'm watching the DVD and learning lots of new things. Thanks! :D
wow good to know you already have it Lars!
yay!
Damn! There's people already with the dvd ? :X
Hey Pablo, just give a tip to Ton, to invite Nathan to do a rigging DVD
after Durian =D
Look at him! Bless!! Happy as a chipmunk who found some cream cookies!!!! :)
I thought he had a star/sky theme as background of apps and dvd content, but later I realized it is.... DUST in the screen!
... startdust?
hey; muy divertido el video...
espero divertirme tanto como tu, cuando me llegue mi copia :)
saludos... :)
Pablo - the Z is fixed!
woooooooow! you are very chocho!!!! I will be more chocho when i buy my copy. ;P
I pre-ordered mine a few weeks ago. Now I'm really excited :D!!!
Haha, when watching the video you can't help but share his glee. I would be staring at the print like that too! After having payed good money for some atrocious prints in the past, I have an appreciation for printers who, as Pablo said, "keep the colors alive." :)
Pablo, if I buy a copy, I'll be sure to hug it for you! Or are all the copies pre-hugged by you?
"'The Open Movie Workshop,' Yaaaaaay!" XD
@nw: Thanks! I forgot to add a destination to the link (besides http://)
And thanks for dropping Pablo! Great work!
shia!!!!!!!
i'm ordering right now, also psoted on my blog http://teogreengage.blogspot.com/
Thanks! I can't wait.
Ordered it what seems like ages ago.
Thanks again.
Thank You!
Note: your work will be put to good use.
Can't wait for this to be state side.
Maybe one more day.....

Me too :D
belgium
I just ordered it! Will be interesting to see how Venom creates his characters.
just got it today ^^ a great morning^^
¡Genial! Felicitaciones por tu DVD. No hay más que admiración y respeto por tu trabajo, comparto la emoción que transmites. No me queda más que decir que te considero un Gran artista digital. Nos leemos y hasta entonces.
I look forward to ordering it.
However, I need to point out that it's called "Venom's Lab!", not "Venom Labs!" (referring to the title of this article)
I'm lonely and still waiting for my copy. :P
Since I pre-ordered almost 2 months ago when will it arrive on my ward in WA state, USA and will my name be in the credits like the OPEN-MOVIES?
Thanks for the video. Just a suggestion, the glossy laptop screen is OK but if you're going to use that to demo, PLEASE do not record it with your back to a very bright window!
Bueno
Un saludo.
