Pildanovak has developed a very useful composite node which can make bas-reliefs out of regular 3d models. Originally bas-reliefs can be seen throughout the art history but are very difficult to make by hand (be it in real-life or 3d).
The process is now made much easier using this new composite node. You can find more information about the node at Blenderartists thread and more at the wiki page.

Oh wow this looks great!
Very cool! You could use this to make one of those old Roman reliefs.

How do you install the patch?
Anyway someone could do a video tutorial on the steps to get this to work!? I've got the patch re-built with Blender and it's there but still having issues with node editing as I am unfamilair with Blender!
Thanks
Vic
